Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR Motorsports operation, is currently seeking a full-time Pit Garage Specialist. The candidate will be responsible for pit practice set up which includes wheel and tire cleaning and prep, lug nut gluing, impact gun nitrogen, hose and regulator set up, cleaning and pit surface maintenance. The candidate should be able to install and repair mechanical systems or components of the race car, such as brakes, suspension, driveline, steering, cooling system and exhaust system. They will be responsible for the disassembly of components, cleaning components, and preparing subassemblies for reinstallation. The position will also require general shop and pit area organization, as well as clean up.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Pit Practice Prep – wheel and tire preparation, lug nut gluing, pit surface preparation, clean up, equipment organization.
- Assist with weekly pit practice car setup on multiple cars.
- Assist with installation, repair, and/or replace and disassembly of suspension components or springs.
- Assist with disassembly, inspection and taking samples from components for review and inspection.
- Assist with installation, repair, overhauling, adjusting, and disassembly of brake systems.
- Assist with installation, inspection, and disassembly of fuel cells and fuel lines on the car.
- Assist with attaching all components and installation engines as required.
- Assist with installation of exhaust systems. Assist with weekly pit practice car set-up on multiple cars.
- Assist with installation, repairing, and later disassembly air ducts, cooling systems, and interior.
- Point contact with shop foreman across campus for any car needs and/or updates.
- Assist with Sponsorship Events in the pit department with setup, breakdown, and production.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the pit department garage and pit pad.
- Other assigned duties as directed.

Education/Experience: Magnifluxing certification preferred. Romer proficiency preferred.
Other Requirements: Ability to work a flexible work schedule. Ability to travel if needed. Thorough understanding of mechanical components and car systems. Owning and utilizing personal tools and equipment. Knowledge of measuring tools and calipers. Strong ability to problem solve.
Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills are required.

Attendance Expectations:
The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays. Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule and travel if needed.
Physical Demands:
Requires vision (near, distance, depth), sense of touch, and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety glasses, hearing protection. Constantly stands, walks, manually manipulates, reaches outward, lifts/carries up to 100 pounds, and pushes/pull up to 25 pounds. Frequently reaches above shoulder, climbs, crawls, squats or kneels, bends, and pushes/pulls up to 40 pounds. Occasionally sits, lifts/carries over 100 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 100 pounds.
Environment Demands:
Work includes movement around vehicles, working in various physical positions, and the safe operation of tools and moving vehicles. May be exposed to loud noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and outdoor elements.
Verbal and Writing Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
Math Ability:
Basic math skills required.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations.
