Job Overview:
Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions Group, an innovative contract manufacturing division within Hendrick Motorsports, is seeking a motivated and versatile Contract Manufacturing Technician Level 2. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who thrives in a dynamic startup environment and is excited to be part of a growing team. The primary focus will be supporting the manufacturing and assembly of our cutting-edge products in the defense and government division. Additionally, you will be responsible for driving company equipment, picking up parts, performing offsite testing, and assisting in various operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacturing and Assembly:
- Perform assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of products in accordance with manufacturing procedures and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain manufacturing equipment (tools, machinery, etc.).
- Ensure all products meet strict quality control standards.
- Assist in the development and refinement of manufacturing processes and workflows.
- Testing:
- Conduct product testing on-site using company-provided equipment to ensure operational performance and quality standards.
- Assist in setting up and executing tests at offsite testing facilities as needed.
- Prepare products for external testing and coordinate logistics to deliver equipment to offsite locations.
- Record test results, identify issues, and collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Logistics and Material Handling:
- Drive company vehicles (trucks, vans, etc.) to deliver and pick up equipment, parts, and materials from vendors or clients.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and components needed for production.
- Assist with inventory management, receiving parts, and organizing warehouse or storage areas.
- Multi-Tasking and Flexibility:
- Support various operational tasks, such as equipment maintenance, preparing shipments, and packaging products for delivery.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as needed by the team, contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the startup.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of parts, tools, and equipment.
- Prepare basic reports on production metrics and testing results, and help document assembly processes for continuous improvement.
- Support divisions certification processes for items such as ISO 9000.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience as a technician in a manufacturing, assembly, or production environment.
- Prior experience with product testing, either in-house or at offsite facilities.
- Prior experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong technical skills in mechanical and/or electrical assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and assembly instructions.
- Basic proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Experience operating and setting up testing equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (experience driving small trucks or vans preferred).
- Forklift certification is a plus, but not required.
- Other Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to be flexible with responsibilities and take on a variety of tasks as needed in a small team environment.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform tasks requiring physical effort.
- Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements and as such, U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident or U.S. Person Status Required.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires working in a combination of office, warehouse, production, and offsite testing environments.
- Occasional local travel to pick up parts, deliver items, or conduct offsite testing at partner facilities.
- Occasional travel to perform maintenance or testing on equipment at customer facilities.
