As a Senior Homologation Engineer at McLaren Automotive, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our vehicles meet the latest regulatory requirements worldwide. You will be responsible for completing necessary activities and documentation to achieve vehicle certification for all required international markets. Your duties will include creating and maintaining timing plans for certification activities, planning and monitoring certification spending, and supporting the team of homologation engineers in the development of new projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking type approval and certification activities of major vehicle projects for all required markets internationally
- Creating and maintaining the timing plan of certification activities on assigned projects
- Planning and monitoring certification spending on assigned projects to ensure they are delivered to budget
- Supporting the team of homologation engineers through the development of all projects and working together to deliver global certification of all of McLaren products
- Supporting project delivery as a key member of the engineering team by maintaining close working relationships with project coordination, design engineers, attribute teams, and development engineers
- Working closely with the Principal Certification Engineer for Testing to ensure that all certification test requirements are realised
- Traveling, both within the UK and abroad, for vehicle and component testing when necessary
- Monitoring emerging regulatory requirements affecting current and future models
- Providing interpretations of legislation and supporting the development of innovative solutions in the design of new products
- Participating in industry forums where regulatory requirements are discussed
- Planning, monitoring, and expediting tests, documentation, and certification processes
- Supporting the Quality department and regional teams with launch and series development activities
To succeed in this role, you will need a degree in engineering or an equivalent technical qualification, substantial experience of vehicle certification activities in global markets, and existing knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting vehicle design. Project management experience, handling timing plans and budgets, is also essential.
