Below, we present the four areas in which you can support us (roughly divided into: Body Structure Design, Body Structure Simulation, Water Management Simulation, or Water Management Testing) – please indicate your preference in your cover letter. Body Structure: First and foremost, we are responsible for the development of the body structure system, also known as the "backbone" of the vehicle. The requirements for the body structure are diverse and include aspects such as crash performance, rigidity, and lightweight construction in the design of components. The body structure consists of a multi-material mix of materials such as steel, aluminum, magnesium, or fiber-reinforced plastics. These are joined to form the overall body using joining techniques such as welding, bonding, riveting, or screwing. If you would like to complete your design or simulation internship in this area, the following tasks await you, among others: • Introduction to the CATIA V5 CAD system and familiarization with the Porsche design methodology. Support in the design of innovative concepts for future vehicle projects. • Virtual validation and optimization of the body structure system using stiffness, functional, or operational strength simulations, as well as physical validation through testing. Water management We are also responsible for the water management function in the entire vehicle. This means that we ensure that the vehicle is always functional and ready for the customer when it comes into contact with water (e.g., rain, driving through water, or vehicle cleaning). Flow simulation (CFD) helps us with this in the early development phase, and later, traditional testing. Among other things, the following tasks await you during your simulation or testing internship in water management: • Virtual validation and optimization along the CAE process chain in the project or development of new CAE methods for current issues in digital prototype water management. • Support in the planning, organization, preparation, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of (leakage) tests on components and test vehicles.
