Toray develops, produces and sells fiber reinforced plastics in the form of fabrics, impregnated fabrics and consolidated laminates for the aerospace industry, the ballistic protection market and high-performance industrial applications.
The Shift Leader position is located within the production department.
Production takes place in a 2 or 3 shift system and is divided over 3 departments: weaving, consolidation, and fabric processing. This is a 3-shift function.
The Shift Leader is responsible for realizing the planned production, so that the end products meet the set standards regarding quantity, quality, safety and environment. He/she hierarchically leads 20-40 employees in a shift and reports directly to the production manager.
Tasks and responsibilities
Optimal work processes
• Managing the agreed KPIs and analyzing them;
• Identify and discuss desirable improvements with fellow shift leaders;
• Developing improvement proposals;
• Discussing proposals with manager and colleagues;
• Drawing up a substantively coordinated project plan;
• Supervising and co-executing improvement activities, coordinating disciplines involved in the project;
• Ensure implementation and embedding of the results in the production organization;
• Act as the first point of contact (sr) for operators.
Deployment of resources
• Ensuring the deployment of machines, materials and people, including by:
• Discussing the detailed planning with the production manager;
• Evaluate the planning, discuss/coordinate specifics and deviations;
• Identifying capacity shortages and reporting them to the production manager and making proposals for solutions;
• Checking the operational functioning of equipment and general state of maintenance;
• Assessing faults and defects, setting priorities, ensuring faults are rectified, calling in TD for more complex faults;
• Consultation about times of revision and preventive maintenance;
• Ensure the safe commissioning and decommissioning of (parts of) installations.
Well-performing employees
• Creating staff planning and task allocation within the team;
• Guiding, motivating and stimulating employees;
• Ensure that employees are competent in their tasks;
• Conducting performance and assessment interviews;
• Conducting job interviews;
• Dealing with personnel matters;
• Ensuring employee development through, among other things, operator training plans.
Safe and responsible operation
• Monitor compliance with company and safety regulations within production;
• Participate in the periodic work consultation;
• Compliance with occupational health and safety, quality and company regulations;
• Discussion partner for internal and external audits;
• Providing guided tours.
What do we expect from you?
• MBO+/HBO work and thinking level;
• Experience in a management position and able to manage a large team;
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a technical position;
• Demonstrable experience/affinity with a production environment;
• A Yellow Belt certificate, or the willingness to obtain one;
• Sufficient IT knowledge and skills (Windows, Office such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint);
• Good command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written;
• Communicative and socially skilled.
