The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing implementing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance safety quality production and cost efficiency this role focuses on welding operations robotic automation fixture design and continuous process improvement within a production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program, troubleshoot, and support robotic welding systems and automated equipment.
- Design, evaluate, and improve welding fixtures tooling and work holding devices.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to increase throughput, reduce scrap, and improve product quality.
- Support new product launches through process development, equipment validation, and production readiness activities.
- Analyze production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with quality production maintenance and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Develop and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and customer specifications.
- Support capital equipment projects, including equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.
- Utilize lean manufacturing and six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
- Three plus years of manufacturing engineering experience in a welding or fabrication environment.
- Experience with robotic welding systems (Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, Motoman, or similar).
- Knowledge of MIG, TIG, resistance, an automated welding processes.
- Experience designing welding fixtures, tooling, and assembly equipment.
- Proficient with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CREO.
- Strong understanding of GD and T, blueprint reading, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
- Strong communication and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or related field.
- Welding certificate certifications or knowledge of AWS welding standards.
- Experience with PLCS, automation systems, and industrial robotics integration.
- Lean manufacturing and six Sigma certification.
- Experience supporting automotive, heavy equipment, or metal fabrication industries.
- Familiarity with PFMEA, control plans, APQP, and PPAP processes
