The Role
This position will be responsible for the technical leadership of half shaft development efforts in the US and Global engineering teams. The candidate will provide technical guidance to engineers on all aspects of half shaft design including material selection, heat treatment process, performance, durability, cost, quality, and manufacturing feasibility. The individual will also have responsibility to drive projects through the specification and release process.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

Provide technical support to Design Engineering in the areas of

Drivetrain/Propulsion Systems hardware design, development and testing.

Develop specifications and release new components.

Coordinate and communicate requirements with suppliers and other organizations.

Provide technical expertise during build and test phases of product development.

Perform vehicle integration, bench, or vehicle testing of driveline components.

Manage technical resources utilizing sound engineering principles, advanced analytical tools, and Six Sigma methodology.

Support certified production by providing information and assistance to plants, suppliers, and engineering specialists.

Participate in and contribute to cross-functional team meetings, reviews, and decision making.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.

8 years of experience in halfshaft design, development, and/or manufacturing required.

Experience with automotive halfshafts, joints and drivelines highly desired.

Knowledgeable in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, materials, heat treatments, and finishes used in driveline applications.

Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.

Strong verbal presentation and written communication skills.

Excellent time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to apply math and scientific concepts to develop solutions for complex problems.
