Led by one of the most successful and innovative owners in motorsports, Chip Ganassi Racing has won 22 championships dating back to 1990. In addition, 2016 saw the team pick up their first-ever victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This position plays a critical role in the preparation, performance, and success of the racing team. In this role, you are responsible for managing the technical aspects of the race car, optimizing its performance, and ensuring seamless communication between drivers, mechanics, and the engineering team.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the driver, engineers, and mechanics to coordinate race car operations during races and testing events
Define and enhances the specifications of the race car to optimize its performance
Analyze performance data from the car
Works alongside the strategist to develop and implement the pit stop strategy
Team up with engineers and managers to determine the direction of race car development for improved performance
Take responsibility for managing projects from initial concept to final product delivery
Attends off-track testing to assess car performance
Develop analytical tools to optimize vehicle performance
Represent the team and its sponsors professionally, both on and off the track. Ensures that sponsors and their guests are treated with respect by addressing their inquiries appropriately during shop, garage, and pit tours
Assist team members with additional duties as needed
Qualifications
Previous experience in a similar role within motorsports, preferably in Indy NXT, or equivalent series
Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, and data acquisition systems
Proficiency in engineering software such as MATLAB, SolidWorks, Pi, or similar tools
Mechanical Engineering or relevant college degree required
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive under pressure
Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset
