DLMP SUMMARY:
Penske Entertainment's Diverse Leadership in Motorsports Program (DLMP) is dedicated to providing unique and enriching opportunities to ethnically and/or racially diverse college students who hope to secure full-time employment in the sports and entertainment industries after graduation.
DLMP interns will be a part of the broader College Program, working and learning as members of their respective departments to receive valuable hands-on experience within those fields while receiving ongoing access to programming designed to support a well-rounded experience.
Participants will develop both their personal and professional skills by forming meaningful relationships with experienced professionals, working collaboratively with their cohort, and expanding their knowledge of the Indianapolis community while serving as ambassadors of Penske Entertainment.
In addition, DLMP interns specifically, will engage in a variety of activities focused on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. This enhanced programming includes time with various leaders in the broader Indiana sports community to learn about their organizations, their DEI efforts and feedback on the skills and experiences that sports, and entertainment organizations are looking for.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of the Ticket Operations Coordinator Intern is to provide support for all ticket department activities for each major IMS event including the INDYCAR Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500, Brickyard Weekend and any other ticket-related event.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Customer Service
- Provide all guests a positive first impression of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway by offering superior, individualized guest service.
- Communicate effectively with guests via telephone, face-to-face and email to establish their needs efficiently and provide accurate information regarding all IMS events.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers.
Ticket Sales and Service
- Aid guests with the purchase and distribution of tickets, parking and any applicable add-ons through communication with customers via in-person, telephone and email
- Handle cash, check and credit card payments responsibly and accurately, with the ability to balance monies by batch to submit to Financial Analyst.
- Problem-solve by effectively communicating with guests to locate and deliver will-call/guest tickets.
- Ability to be flexible and effectively explain tickets, products and events to consumers.
- High level of knowledge of IMS facility and familiarity with stands, parking areas and special event sites.
- Accurately operate IMS computer ticket system (SCORE) to process daily ticket orders and payments for packaging and fulfillment of all event tickets.
- Pull, package and prepare all products for mailing orders for all events.
- Accurately maintain confidential customer and business information.
- Operate and maintain remote ticket locations during event times as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university.
Skills/Experience
- Superior customer service skills and service-oriented philosophy.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Innovative and critical thinker, self-starter with problem solving skills with results driven goals.
- Effective communication and relationship building skills; both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a role that requires attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.

Travel/Work Hours
- No travel.
- General office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Candidate must be able to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays including Memorial Day weekend. Flexibility and adaptability are key skills needed for this role.
