Multimatic's Damper Design team is looking for a Design Engineer to develop new suspension damper products and support existing product lines. The ideal candidate uses a data-driven approach with creative thinking to solve problems, and enjoys the fast-pace of the automotive industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Generating innovative design concepts to meet customer requirements, incorporating design for manufacturing (DFM) feedback in a wide range of manufacturing processes
- 3D modelling (Siemens NX) of components and assemblies within vehicle environments
- Drafting using GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and identifying significant characteristics
- Creating and maintaining DFMEAs
- Defining setup and reviewing results of CAE/FEA/CFD activities with Analysis Engineers
- Writing Component Test Specifications, working with Test Engineers to develop procedures and fixtures
- Coordination of validation testing, and tracking performance in DVP&Rs
- Hands-on assembly of prototypes, new concepts, or product demonstration builds
- Teardown and inspection to evaluate part condition and support root cause analysis
- Attending and supporting customer vehicle damper tuning events (international travel required)
- Generating ideas for VA/VE initiatives for new and existing products
- Supporting production line ramp-up and troubleshooting (local travel required)
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Mechatronics Engineering, with 2 or more years of design engineering experience, at least 1 year in the automotive industry.
