Multimatic's Mechanisms Engineering team is looking for talented Design Engineers to help create innovative solutions for the world's leading OEMs. The successful candidate will take automotive components from concept through to high-volume production, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets.
Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining 3D CAD models, drawings with GD&T, and engineering documentation such as DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, tolerance stack-ups, and other engineering calculations. The Design Engineer will also lead product development through defining and reviewing virtual and physical validation studies, working in close partnership with program management, process, and quality teams at Multimatic's manufacturing divisions to support DFM, DFA, and VA/VE activities.
Collaboration with Multimatic's Electronics and Software teams is required to deliver integrated solutions for powered mechanisms. The Design Engineer will also be responsible for hands-on assembly of new design concepts to support prototype builds, testing, and validation, communicating directly with customers to understand technical requirements, provide design solutions, and program updates.
Innovative design concepts must be generated to satisfy OEM customer requirements, driving continuous improvement in design process and product performance.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field, with 3+ years of proven experience in automotive component design. Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA or NX preferred) for 3D modelling and GD&T drafting is essential, along with strong knowledge of kinematics, materials, and design for high-volume manufacture and assembly.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment. A genuine passion for mechanical design and the automotive world is also desirable.
