The Senior Lead Engineer - Powertrain Simulation is responsible for developing high-performance powertrain systems through simulation, focusing on advanced internal combustion engines and new generation propulsion technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide thermodynamic simulation activities through concept definition, pre-development, and complete development phases.
- Develop, correlate, and validate engine models using experimental data and test bench data.
- Define and evaluate engine concepts, supporting their transition to design and prototyping phases.
- Analyse future regulations and evaluate their impact on powertrain architecture and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (combustion, CFD, mechanical design, camshaft, testing, fuels).
- Support integrated 1D-3D simulation workflows for developing combustion and air path (air path) systems.
- Contribute to fuel modelling activities and knock prediction.
- Support valvetrain and camshaft profile development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Aerospace, or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in 1D thermodynamic simulation and high-performance internal combustion engine development.
- Solid knowledge of engine thermodynamics, combustion processes, and gas exchange.
- Experience in high-performance engineering or motorsport environments.
- Proven project leadership and cross-functional coordination capabilities.
- Competence in 1D thermodynamic simulation, including model correlation and validation.
- Strong skills in developing and optimising high-performance internal combustion engines.
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies.
- Familiarity with integrated 1D-3D simulation approaches.
- Proficiency in engineering tools and software such as GT-Power, AVL Boost, MATLAB/Simulink.
- Experience with system modelling and collaboration tools like Cameo and Concerto.
- Good to advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken).
