The Role
At General Motors, we are building the next generation of software and artificial intelligence systems that power advanced vehicle capabilities. Within this work, the Model Integration team helps turn machine learning models into production-ready software by connecting model development with deployment, validation, and vehicle-facing integration workflows.
We are looking for a Tech Lead Manager to lead and grow our Model Integration team. This role combines strong technical leadership with people management and cross-functional execution. The ideal candidate brings experience in machine learning systems, software integration, and platform development, along with a passion for building high-performing teams and scalable engineering workflows.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
-
Set the technical direction and roadmap for model integration workflows, with a focus on scalability, reliability, automation, and developer productivity.
-
Drive the design and development of tools, platforms, and processes that simplify how models move from development into simulation, testing, and production environments.
-
Partner closely with machine learning engineers, infrastructure teams, software platform teams, and program leaders to ensure models can be integrated, validated, and released efficiently.
-
Improve model onboarding, configuration, interface management, observability, and release-readiness processes across the integration lifecycle.
-
Establish strong engineering practices for quality, validation, governance, and operational excellence.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
-
8+ years of experience in machine learning systems, software infrastructure, platform engineering, deployment systems, or related large-scale software domains.
-
Experience building or operating internal platforms, workflow automation, configuration systems, release tooling, or developer-facing infrastructure.
-
Experience integrating machine learning models or complex software components into production systems. Strong understanding of software quality, validation, observability, and reliability in production environments.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
-
Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, advanced driver assistance systems, or other real-time machine learning applications.
-
Experience with machine learning deployment pipelines, model packaging, configuration management, or production inference workflows.
-
Experience with observability, determinism, testing, and release gating for machine learning or distributed systems. Experience applying AI-assisted tooling to software development, machine learning, or platform workflows.
