General Motors Design Center Fabrication is seeking a Senior Manager responsible for leading a team of superintendents responsible for Metal, Wood, Paint, Trim, RP and Plaster Shop Operations. Provide leadership and direction to the Design Fabrication superintendents to ensure successful, on-time builds of studio properties and concept vehicles. Interfacing with the Design Studios, Program Teams, AFM’s Engineering, Process Leads and technology suppliers.
- Collaborate with DCF Superintendents, Supervision, SMEs, and UAW Staff, relative to the fabrication of prototype and GVDP property builds
- Coordinate and delegate projects among the various Fabrication shops
- Comprehend and track property builds to program timelines and all related model quality requirements to ensure customer expectations are met through various shops in Fabrication
- Strategize with Fabrication Planning Management to develop property plans that support the fabrication of GVDP properties and Concept Vehicles
- Manage superintendent performance, provide candid & constructive feedback, develop and provide career conversations with direct reports
- Provide coordination of concurrent projects involving Skilled Trades, Project Management and Design Studio Teams
- Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- BBA or equivalent degree
- 10 Years of fabrication experience
- Capable of bench engineering unique solutions for complex build issues
- In depth knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes and the ability to articulate and positively influence those processes
- Ability to evaluate highly complex engineering assemblies and recommend manufacturing methods and materials for each part
- Demonstrated ability to lead and personally perform tasks required for show vehicle fabrication, including trouble shooting builds and modifying build strategy in a fluid environment
- Experience in Local 160 contract language
- Excellent technical breadth, organizational, administrative and leadership skills
