What you'll do
You'll provide a unified link between Engineering, Programmes & Operations teams, supporting with problem resolution across all projects and ensuring technical delivery to time, cost and quality targets.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering inputs into projects, managing internal interfaces including to commercial; programme and operations functions.
- Lead relevant work packages or work streams with the project scope.
- Coordinate, support and provide input to programme planning activities – collating input from discipline and subject matter experts.
- Technical liaison with customers and suppliers.
- Technical ownership of Bill of Materials and coordination of engineering release activities in PLM and ERP/MRP systems.
- Data analysis and reporting of engineering KPIs into the programme and to the Technical Director.
- Support business development activities, typically by coordinating technical inputs into bids.
- Engage with physical build; issue tracking and investigation (including 8D); and physical validation activities – leading individual workstreams as required.
- Support relevant FMEA reviews (from concept to manufacturing phase).
- Support the design review process and ensure all stakeholders are involved.
- Support systems engineers and technical leads with requirements elicitation and target setting.
- Drive Engineering Sign-off Activities, collating the necessary evidence for gateway approval.
What you need
You'll need to be educated to degree level with an engineering or science-based degree.
- 3+ years’ experience in an engineering and manufacturing company working on production programmes.
- Experience gained within an automotive OEM; Tier 1 supplier or design consultancy would be an advantage.
- Effective engineering delivery experience in a vehicle under body systems, e.g. suspension, brakes, steering, transmission, driveline, powertrain and/or EV and hybrid systems, or other complex mechanisms is preferred – particularly mechatronics elements.
- Good understanding of general engineering principles, and experience of working with various engineering disciplines in the mechanical and EE domains.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, technologies, materials and fastening techniques.
- Familiarity with workshop activities such as fabrication, welding, CNC machining.
- Experience with CAD and PLM tools (CATIA and Windchill particularly) is preferred.
- Awareness of data acquisition; calibration and data analysis tools (e.g. Vector products, MATLAB/Simulink) is advantageous.
