As the Sustainability F1 Project Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to step behind the scenes of Formula 1. You will work as part of a collaborative effort between the FIA, the Commercial Rights Holder, and F1 Teams to achieve the sport’s 2030 sustainability targets, including the goal of net-zero carbon.
You will be at the centre of the action, contributing to a legacy of environmental responsibility and securing the long-term future of the sport at the highest level. You will report to the Sport Sustainability Lead with a functional link to the Head of Single Seater Strategic Development.
MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY & DATA MANAGEMENT:
- Implement a carbon footprint calculation tool tailored to the F1 Championship to quantify emissions across multiple scopes.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to gather, validate, and structure the necessary environmental data.
- Translate complex data into actionable insights for reducing carbon impact and improving eco-design choices.
- Manage and support all projects and programmes related to the Single Seater Sustainability Strategy, including budget, reporting, and partnerships.
- Ensure all initiatives are aligned with international standards (e.g., ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, CDP).
STAKEHOLDER GOVERNANCE & REGULATORY INTEGRATION:
- Manage the organisation of the F1 ESG Advisory Committee and support its leadership.
- Proactively collaborate with the FIA Single Seater Department, providing expertise and guidance to integrate sustainability into all operations.
- Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and partners on sustainability criteria and project updates.
- Act as an FIA representative at internal and external events, meetings, and conferences when relevant.
PROFILE:
- Master's degree or Engineering degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience of 3 to 5 years in a similar role with a strong focus on environmental sustainability, carbon accounting, lifecycle assessment (LCA), and project management.
- Hands-on experience implementing or using carbon footprint calculation tools and familiarity with international standards (ISO 14064, GHG Protocol).
- Proven ability to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders, translating complex technical data for non-specialist audiences.
- Experience in the motorsport / automotive / sport sector is a strong advantage.
- English fluent (mandatory). Any other language is a plus.
This position is based at the FIA offices in Paris and requires travel to the FIA offices in Geneva monthly.
