The Director, Buick & GMC Community Communications is a recognized expert responsible for leading enterprise-level community engagement strategies that connect GM brands with influential cultural and lifestyle audiences. This role applies deep subject matter expertise, strategic foresight, and cross-functional leadership to shape Buick and GMC’s presence in key communities and drive brand relevance.
We are seeking an exceptional communications leader to reimagine how two of GM’s most distinctive brands — Buick and GMC — show up in the world and with targeted communities.
This is not a traditional PR role. We want a trailblazer who can lead bold, creative, earned-first thinking and bring fresh approaches to building our brands — particularly next-generation EVs — and creating enduring cultural relevance among new and existing communities.
The Director will serve as a trusted advisor to senior brand and GM leadership, providing strategic counsel and executive communications support. They will work in close partnership with colleagues across the enterprise — including Technology Communications, Editorial, Corporate Communications, Marketing, Sales and the brand business teams — to ensure that Buick and GMC communications deliver breakthrough work that supports broader GM storytelling and business objectives.
Operating with broad autonomy, the Director will ultimately lead high-impact initiatives, mentors others, and contribute directly to the execution of the brands and GM’s strategic priorities through innovative, community-driven storytelling.

Design and implement innovative engagement campaigns that span digital, experiential, and earned media channels, connecting deeply with the communities that Buick and GMC are targeting.
This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Mountain View, or Warren, you are expected to report to that location three times a week at minimum.
