Welcome to the Audi F1 Project. Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026. The new team has three locations. Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Sauber Motorsport Technical Center, UK will be operational this year. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations. What you need? The mindset of an athlete. We’re looking for a motivated and experienced Team Leader to guide a team of talented Model Makers. This position for the Audi F1 Project is at Sauber in Hinwil (Switzerland).
Your mission
Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of Model Makers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance working environment. This includes assigning tasks, responsibilities, and ensuring clear communication within the teamSet clear targets and KPIs for the team, monitor performance against the skills matrix, and conduct regular performance reviews and feedback sessions. Implement development plans to support individual and team growthPlan daily work schedules, manage the job board, and coordinate shifts and absences to ensure efficient workshop operationPlan, coordinate, and monitor Prototype Workshop projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycleContinuously improve work processes, identify opportunities for efficiency gains, and implement cost reduction measures in collaboration with the Head of PWSEnsure all work complies with internal policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and maintains a high standard of quality in both results and processesIdentify training needs within the team, plan and implement internal training programs (based on the skills matrix), and support the recruitment of new team membersRegularly communicate with the Head of PWS regarding team progress, project status, and any challenges encountered. Prepare reports and presentations as requiredMaintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment. Ensure the smooth running of tests in the Wind Tunnel in collaboration with Model ChiefsEfficiently utilize human, material, and financial resources, ensuring compliance with budget targetsIn the absence of the Head of PWS, you will assume full responsibility for all associated dutiesYou will participate in key meetings and relay information to the Head of PWS
Your profile
Proven experience working in a prototype workshop or similar environmentStrong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to motivate and manage a teamA proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solvingCommitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvementProficiency in standard Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with SAP and CAD systems is highly desirableGood level of spoken and written English is necessary
