Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Print Shop Manager to support the production of high-quality printed signage materials for a wide range of campus stakeholders. This position requires hands-on experience with large-scale printing equipment—including roll-to-roll printers, laminators, and wide-format plotters—as well as strong project management skills. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing print jobs from intake through completion and will serve as a reliable equipment operator for day to day signage needs across campus.
Requirements
Requirements & Essential Functions:
· Operate and maintain large-scale printing and finishing equipment, including but not limited to roll-to-roll printers, laminators, cutters, and wide-format devices.
· Manage the full print production lifecycle—from intake and file preparation to printing, finishing, and coordination of final pickup.
· Work closely with management to understand project needs, timelines, and specifications.
· Ensure print quality and color accuracy, and troubleshoot issues related to file setup, substrate compatibility, or machine performance.
· Maintain print shop inventory, including paper stocks, inks, adhesives, and laminates; order supplies as needed.
· Track and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy and customer satisfaction.
· Adhere to safety procedures and perform routine maintenance on all print equipment to ensure consistent output and minimize downtime.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Demonstrated experience in file preparation, color management, and digital print workflows.
· Strong customer service and communication skills; ability to work with diverse campus stakeholders and manage expectations.
· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage concurrent projects and deadlines.
· Strong interpersonal skills; can effectively communicate and relate to all levels within and outside the organization; create and build positive and productive relationships.
· Can be trusted to act in a manner that is truthful and values direct, honest communication at all levels of the organization.
Required Qualifications:
· 2-4 years of experience managing or operating large-scale commercial or institutional printing equipment (e.g., Flatbed and roll-to-roll printers, cutting, and laminating machines).
· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop) and RIP software (e.g., Onyx, Caldera, Fiery).
Physical Demand & Work Environments:
· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Standing, bending, and operating machinery for extended periods required.
· Exposure to ink fumes and handling of print substrates (with provided protective equipment).
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during printing operation and / or events.
