Chip Ganassi Racing is seeking a qualified Automotive Test Engineer to join our team at our headquarters in Indianapolis. This traveling role plays a pivotal part in our commercial group, focusing on OEM automotive testing at our development facility in Western Pennsylvania. We are looking for an engineer with a balance of technical expertise, practical problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail. The ideal candidate will excel in test planning, execution, documentation, and continuous improvement of testing processes and systems.
Responsibilities
Manage test vehicle instrumentation - Cosworth Electronics
Develop detailed test plans, conduct physical vehicle testing, and accurately document procedures and results.
Provide clear and effective communication and direction to team members during testing activities.
Perform detailed data analysis using tools such as MS Excel, MATLAB, Cosworth Electronics software, and proprietary software.
Identify and resolve issues with data acquisition systems and software analysis tools.
Contribute to the enhancement of data acquisition hardware, software analysis tools, and facility control systems.
Collaborate with team on the development of testing instrumentation and methodologies to improve testing efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Broad understanding of automotive technologies and a strong desire for hands-on learning and development.
Experience in engineering testing methods, including planning, execution, and detailed reporting
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Willingness to travel to Western Pennsylvania up to twice monthly and work extended hours during testing periods.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data acquisition hardware and analysis tools.
Knowledge of motorsports harness wiring practices.
Strong troubleshooting skills and logical problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in software tools such as MS Office (including Excel VBA), MATLAB, and CAD.
Prior hands-on experience with automotive technology and construction.
Project management experience.
