Alpine Racing have placed Computational Fluid Dynamics at the heart of our aerodynamics development as we pursue the ultimate of on-track performance by exploiting cutting edge computational technologies and engineering modelling techniques.
Within our factory in Enstone, we are looking to hire the most talented individuals to support our mission. As part of this team, we have a position within our Aerodynamics department for a Senior CFD Development Engineer who will contribute to our OpenFOAM based full stack development as well as operations in our on-site high performance compute resource and in public cloud.
The Role
In pursuit of car performance, we seek enthusiastic and capable individuals to expand and strengthen our deployment and use of our open source CFD software stack. The role offers the opportunity to develop and maintain an ecosystem of software, tools and services that enable our digital analysis of fluid dynamics. You will be responsible for defining, implementing and continuous improvement of process in a fast-moving environment.
The Person
The successful candidate will possess a degree in computational science or a scientific discipline such as aerodynamics, mathematics or physics. Direct experience of running scientific software on high performance compute resource is essential, including associated skills with shell scripting, compiling, scheduling management systems, web services, containers and package managers.
The skills required are:

Educated to Masters or PhD in computational science or a scientific discipline such as aerodynamics, mathematics or physics

Several years’ experience in developing and running scientific modelling software on high performance compute facilities, ideally in an F1 or motorsport environment

Several years’ experience in object-orientated programming, including Python
-
Several years’ experience in common software services and tools, e.g. Apache, Spack, SLURM, Docker, VTK, Azure DevOps etc.

Experience of common CAE tools, in particular CATIA, ANSA, OpenFOAM and ParaView

Highly skilled in trouble-shooting and problem solving

Excellent communication skills

Capable to work under pressure and to tight timescales
