Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR Motorsports operation, is currently seeking an experienced, highly motivated Setup Mechanic. The successful individual will assist in the preparation and installation of the race car set-up to track specifications received from the crew chief and race engineers. The successful individual must be able to communicate well and work closely with shop and track peers. The position requires strong attention to detail, as well as strong knowledge of race car set-up processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Assist in verifying compliance of the wheel location and offsets to NASCAR gauges.
- Assist in the finalization and verification of the race set-up of the vehicle.
- Assist in inputting set-up information into the database.
- Begin to learn to utilize Romer Arm to confirm set-up specifications and measurements.
- Reference set-up sheet from crew chief or race engineer to confirm weekly build specifications.
- Receive direction and guidance from more experienced set-up mechanics to assist in the set-up process.
- Assist the shop mechanics as needed.

Education & Experience:
- Minimum two years experience in a related position
- Requires basic knowledge and understanding of race car components.
- Must be skilled mechanically. Basic fabrication skills preferred.
- Prior race experience preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact well with others
- Must be a team player, be able to work a flexible schedule and have a high level of integrity
- Must possess personal tools and equipment
Computer Skills:
Basic Computer skills to utilize timekeeping system.
Communication Skills:
Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company
personnel.
Attendance Expectations:
The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds. Must pass OSHA respiratory medical exam.
Environment Demands:
Duties are performed primarily in the body repair shop. Work includes frequent movement around vehicles in order to apply paint to various vehicle body parts. May be exposed to loud noise, vibration, paint-dust, paint fumes, and other body repair shop conditions.
Verbal and Writing Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to understand and follow technical manuals.
