DLMP SUMMARY:
Penske Entertainment's Diverse Leadership in Motorsports Program (DLMP) is dedicated to providing unique and enriching opportunities to ethnically and/or racially diverse college students who hope to secure full-time employment in the sports and entertainment industries after graduation.
DLMP interns will be a part of the broader College Program, working and learning as members of their respective departments to receive valuable hands-on experience within those fields while receiving ongoing access to programming designed to support a well-rounded experience.
Participants will develop both their personal and professional skills by forming meaningful relationships with experienced professionals, working collaboratively with their cohort, and expanding their knowledge of the Indianapolis community while serving as ambassadors of Penske Entertainment.
In addition, DLMP interns specifically, will engage in a variety of activities focused on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. This enhanced programming includes time with various leaders in the broader Indiana sports community to learn about their organizations, their DEI efforts and feedback on the skills and experiences that sports, and entertainment organizations are looking for.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Premium Sales Intern will assist the IMS Premium Sales Department with projects related to sales and service. The intern will learn from the sales team how to make presentations over the phone, ensure the satisfaction of our suite and hospitality clients while on-site, and develop sales skills. The internship begins in December and concludes at the beginning of August. This position is flexible with class schedules until the end of the Spring semester. During our heaviest event season, candidate must be able to work long hours, including evenings and weekends, through the months of May and July. The Premium Sales Intern is a part of the College Program and is eligible for all relevant programming and experiences.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Assist Premium Services department (sales & client services) with projects related to sales and service
- Manage Premium Sales deck, ensuring all information is up to date and accurate
- Spend time with each sales rep to learn about making presentations over the phone, visiting suite and hospitality clients, and developing sales skills
- Develop and maintain outstanding working relationships with corporate clients, sponsors, IMS special guests/celebrities and provide excellent customer service to all patrons of IMS
- Learn Dynamics 365 CRM system and know how to perform tasks within the system
- Assist with administrative sales projects including: sales projections, forecasting, and pricing strategy
- Manage, along with the sales team, available inventory of suite and hospitality spaces
- Assist with execution of the Indianapolis 500 Victory Celebration
- Sell and assist Client Services with executing single day hospitality/suite clients
- Perform sales research and provide potential leads to the premium sales team
- Other Duties as assigned

Education
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from a four-year accredited college/university preferably in event management, business, marketing, or sales focused.
