The Role: General Motors is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and secure network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and optimal performance for our global operations. What You'll Do (Responsibilities): Design, implement, and configure advanced data networking solutions to support business requirements. Manage and maintain complex network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. Implement and configure network security policies and procedures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats. Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues, including connectivity problems, performance bottlenecks, and security incidents. Monitor network performance and availability, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively. Support and manage voice networks and VoIP solutions, ensuring high-quality communication services. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new systems and applications into the existing network infrastructure. Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures. Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and critical incident response. Stay current with emerging network technologies and best practices to continually improve our network environment. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience will be considered in lieu of a degree Proven experience in applied networking principles and practices Extensive experience with data networking, including LAN/WAN technologies, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and switching Demonstrated ability to implement and configure various network devices and systems Strong understanding of network infrastructure and telecommunications concepts Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting voice networks and VoIP solutions People Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications): Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIP) #LI-DH2
