POSITION SUMMARY:
The IT Operations Engineer is responsible for the planning, deployment, and support of network operations and end-user support at each INDYCAR racing venue. While not travelling with the INDYCAR Series, this role is responsible for IT Operations and end-user support for all Penske Entertainment entities, including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS).
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
INDYCAR
- Collaborate with the INDYCAR Operations Manager, INDYCAR Senior Director of Technology, and IMS Productions Fiber Field Engineer to develop a site layout and network connectivity plan for each venue. Implement the network connectivity plan at each venue by utilizing copper, fiber, and wireless resources.
- Troubleshoot network configuration and performance issues for network switches, firewalls, packet shapers, wireless access points, etc.
- Provide end-user IT support for INDYCAR and IMS Productions personnel. This includes support for applications, desktop/laptop computers, mobile devices, ticket scanners, printers, etc.
- Procure and manage the installation of internet service for each INDYCAR event.
- Maintain documentation for the layout, configuration, and support of each venue.
- Evaluate the IT needs and processes required for INDYCAR events to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop a project plan for implementing improvements over the offseason.
- Travel with the INDYCAR Series for test events and races.
IMS
- Provide end-user IT support for all Penske Entertainment personnel. This includes support for applications, desktop/laptop computers, mobile devices, ticket scanners, printers, etc.
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot event related technology infrastructure and IT systems for both internal organization use and external partners (such as media, sponsors, fans, etc.)
- Install, maintain, and support application and cloud infrastructure such as Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure, DHCP/DNS, Microsoft System Center Suite, etc.
- Update the IT Asset Management System to ensure that relevant IT assets are accounted for according to active status, location, etc.
- Work occasional weekends as required for IMS events and participate in an on-call rotation with other team members.
- Work on special projects/requests as well as perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field. Other degrees may be accepted with relevant IT experience.
Skills/Experience
- 7+ years of experience in Information Technology.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting Cisco-centric networks.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft products such as Windows Server, Active Directory, etc.
- Experiments to find creative solutions. Enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar opportunities.
- Works independently, without direct supervision.
- Maintains confidentiality of proprietary, confidential, and sensitive information.
- Prioritizes tasks and projects and adjust priorities considering changing needs and circumstances.
- Ability to handle strong personalities in a constructive, positive fashion resulting in appropriate resolutions of disputes and/or difficult situations.
- Flexibility of work schedule to support INDYCAR and IMS events as required.
- Knowledge of the motorsports entertainment world, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, NTT INDYCAR Series, and other related activities is a plus.

Travel/Work Hours/Flexibility
- This position requires travel to race events during racing season.
- General office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.
- Longer hours and weekends required for the Month of May and other major racing events.

- During race events work is performed in an outdoor environment in close proximity to other workers, race teams, and race fans. Exposure to weather elements is possible during events. At other times work is performed in an office environment and in close proximity to other workers.

- Employee will be faced with frequent interruptions and must meet with others on a regular basis.
- The following office equipment will be used in the course of performing their duties: computer, VOIP phone, cellular device, copier, and other computer related hardware.
- The noise level in the work environment can be loud, due to professional racing events.
