We are looking for a highly motivated Data Scientist to join the Machine Learning and Data Science Team and contribute state-of-the-art Machine Learning techniques to improve overall car performance. To enable you to do this, you’ll have the opportunity of collaborating with a dynamic technology department as well as domain experts in the various engineering departments within the business.
Working within the Technology & Analysis Tools department from our Milton Keynes campus, our mission is to develop the technology that enables our engineers to design championship winning Formula 1 cars. The impact you will have
- Develop Machine Learning and Data Science tools that improve our understanding of vehicle performance and design
- Collaborate with engineers in the Vehicle Performance, Aerodynamics, Vehicle Design and Power Unit departments to understand how Data Science can enhance existing practices and address challenging problems
- Work alongside a team of highly skilled software and data engineers to put models into production
- Review state-of-art literature and research from the Machine Learning community and put relevant developments into practice
- Present work with effective communication, writing and visualisation to a wide range of stakeholders
- Lead others in the department by example with best practices in analysis, programming, and communication
What we look for
- MSc or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, or a similar quantitative field
- Preferably 3 years industry experience (or the equivalent in a post-Doctoral/research position
- Experience working with and analysing large multimodal datasets, particularly timeseries data, to solve complex problems
- Experience utilising a wide range of Machine Learning and Data Science techniques, as well as knowledge of the underlying mathematics of them, e.g., Bayesian Statistics, Deep Learning and Optimization
- Proficiency in Python (and other programming languages desirable) and knowledge of one or more Machine Learning frameworks/libraries, such as TensorFlow and PyTorch
- Exposure to different elements of Data Science projects, such as ideation, modelling, validation, and deployment.
- Excellent communication skills and a track record of working successfully with stakeholders from other disciplines
Bonus points for
- Being interested in Formula 1 racing!
- Possessing an understanding of vehicle dynamics and/or aerodynamics
- Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration frameworks like Docker and Kubernetes
