Within the Engineering Office (Composite Design) we are looking for a Senior Composite Design Engineer who will be act as a role model and a benchmark for engineering excellence within our Team.
Senior Composite Design Engineer - The Role
Reporting to the Head of Composite Design the post holder will be responsible for the design of structural mechanical and composite components for current and future cars. They will take ownership of the Detailed Design Specifications and Project Execution from cradle to grave, defining and supporting component/system build, validation, servicing and utilisation, involved in the resolution of any issues as they arise.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: components, laminates and assemblies extending to the necessary tooling.
Leadership of communication and close collaboration with other engineering departments are essential parts of the role.
This is factory based but may involve occasional travel (e.g. to oversee testing of designed parts/assemblies/liaison with external suppliers etc).
Senior Composite Design Engineer - The Person
The successful candidate will have 5-7 years post graduate experience in an F1 design role. They will hold an IMechE accredited degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline and have a thorough understanding of Engineering first principles, leading to well justified engineering decisions and providing confidence in their approach.
In addition they will:
Possess a strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques & latest material technologies
Demonstrate Engineering ‘best practices’, setting an example for others
Have a proven track record of high quality for all aspects of work delivered
Have a common vision with Head of Section and the wider organisation
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
Operate in line with the company values and challenging behaviours and working practices around them to do so also
The person will be a proven leader, able to drive change and continuous improvement as well as developing high performing teams. They will be someone willing to take full ownership of their deliverables going above and beyond where necessary.
They will be a role model to the department, working to the highest standards and in accordance with the company values.
