Your Role
We are seeking for a passionate and skillful Servo Drive System Application Engineer to join our Robotics Laboratory team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing the architecture, design, integration, and productization of advanced servo drive systems for robotics and humanoid applications. The role includes motor control software/algorithm, servo-drive system design and analysis, embedded platforms, sensing, power electronics, and system level technical specification definition.
Key responsibilities in your new role
- Architecture definition: Own servo drive system architecture across control software, embedded platforms, sensing, power stage, protection, and communication interfaces.
- Development and optimization: FOC control software and related motor control functionality implementation for high performance servo applications, including current, velocity, and position loop design and tuning.
- System integration: Drive hardware-software co-design across MCU, sensors, and power devices, including position sensors, encoders, current sensing, gate drivers, MOSFETs, GaN, and other related components.
- System level debugging: Test, debug, and optimize servo control systems using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, current probes, and other tools to achieve best-in-class efficiency, torque response, and stability.
- Technical documentation: Create and maintain detailed design documents, test reports, and user guides.
- Cross functional collaboration: Work closely with hardware, mechanical, and test engineers to solve system-level challenges and drive products from concept to mass production.
Your Profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in motor control, ideally in servo drive or various robotics/humanoid designs into production.
- Strong theoretical foundation: In-depth understanding of motor theory and modern control theory (PID control, state observers, etc.).
- Proficient programming skills: High proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, with strong coding and debugging skills.
- Platform & tool experience: Proven experience with at least one major MCU platform (e.g. Infineon PSOC/XMC, etc.).
- Simulation skills: Proficiency in using MATLAB/Simulink for control algorithm modeling and simulation.
- Strong sense of ownership, excellent problem-solving skills, and a collaborative team spirit.
Preferred:
- Practical experience developing and deploying sensor-less and sensor-ed FOC algorithms.
- Familiarity with GCC/IAR/Keil or any other toolchain for ARM or RISC-V MCU software development.
- Experience with functional safety standards (e.g. ISO 26262) or RoS development processes.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as CAN, CAN FD, or EtherCAT/Ethernet.
- Experience with motor parameter identification and online auto-tuning.
- Experience in any of the following application areas:
- Industrial Servo Drives;
- Automotive Drives (EPS, thermal cooling pumps);
- Appliances (variable-frequency ACs, washing machines, compressors);
- UAV ESCs;
- Robotic Actuators.
- Experience in successful Robotics design and Go-to-Market.
