What you'll do
You'll conduct a Master Thesis in the area of experimental battery characterization. The thermophysical properties of Li-ion battery cells, such as thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity, are essential input parameters for accurate thermal simulations and safety assessments.
- Conduct a literature review on thermophysical property measurement techniques for battery cells
- Select and set up appropriate experimental methods for thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity determination
- Perform measurements under varying conditions (e.g., SoC, temperature, pressure, aging)
- Analyze the variability of thermophysical parameters across different cell types and conditions
- Document and present findings with recommendations for simulation input parameters
What you need
- Ongoing studies in the field of technical or natural science studies (physics, mechanical engineering, materials science or similar)
- Interest in experimental work and battery technology
- Experience in laboratory measurements and data analysis is beneficial
- Highly developed quality awareness with strong attention to detail
- High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously
- Fluent English language skills are essential; fluent German is beneficial
Why this matters
This thesis is your opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of AVL and embed your theoretical knowledge in a practical environment. The successful completion of the thesis is remunerated with a one-time fee of EUR €3,500.00 before tax.
