What to Expect
To lead and deliver IT projects that support commercial strategies by managing scope, budget, timelines, and stakeholders, ensuring the right technology solutions are implemented to drive business growth, customer engagement, and operational efficiency. The role requires a strong understanding of both technology and business operations, with a focus on implementing solutions that drive business growth, enhance customer engagement, and improve operational efficiency.
What You'll Do
− Plan, manage, and execute commercial IT projects from initiation through to completion and handover.− Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the agreed scope and quality standards.− Collaborate closely with commercial teams (sales, marketing, service) to understand needs and ensure IT solutions meet business requirements.− Manage expectations, gather feedback, and communicate progress clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.− Manage relationships with external vendors, implementation partners, or SaaS providers, ensuring deliverables align with project goals.− Oversee contract compliance, SLAs, and third-party performance.− Establish and maintain governance structures (e.g. steering committees, RAID logs, change control boards).− Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders on status, risks, issues, and dependencies.− Track project budgets, control costs, and forecast financial requirements.− Allocate internal and external resources effectively to support project delivery.− Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues proactively.− Ensure escalation paths and contingency plans are in place.− Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure that solutions meet business needs and technical standards before go-live.− Partner with Change Management Leads to align project rollout with user adoption plans, training, and communications.− Ensure smooth transition of the project to business-as-usual (BAU) support teams.− Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement.Key Financial Measures:• Project Budget Adherence & Forecast accuracy to ensure actual project spend stays within the approved budget.• Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Awareness i.e. understanding the full cost over the lifecycle of the solution (implementation + maintenance + support).• Return on Investment (ROI) Tracking to measure whether the business benefits used to justify the project are achieved posti mplementation.• Vendor & Contract Cost Management including change orders and overages.• CapEx vs. OpEx Tracking to support compliance with financial accounting standards and impacts budgeting strategies.Key Stakeholders:Internal:− Colleagues across the IT & Digital team − Commercial organisation, Marketing, Sales & After Sales Leaders, Champions, End users− Change Management Team external to IT & Digital− Project Sponsors− Executive Leadership Teams− Steering Committee MembersExternal:− Platform providers− Software implementation partners− System Integrators
What You'll Bring
Business Knowledge:− A clear understanding of the commercial drivers of the business and how systems, data management, process and procedures can play a key role in the success Essential Functional / Technical Skills:− Previous experience in large scale & complex Commercial business application solutions from conception to implementation− A good knowledge of systems, data management, processes and procedures approaches with evidence of successful application and ROI− Skilled in agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban), lean product development, and data-driven decision making− Manages complex timelines, budgets, risks, resources and communications with precision− Experience of leading a delivery team with different specialties and levels of experience− Reports upwards to keep your executive and management audience updated with progress on system developments and projects in consideration− Manages third party supplier relationships CoE, offshore support etc Personal Attributes / Competencies:− Focused on delivering measurable business outcomes, not just technical success.− Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.− Builds trust and credibility with business teams.− Leads cross-functional teams with authority and confidence—often without direct line management.− Thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments.− Tackles challenges proactively and creatively; Skilled in navigating ambiguity and finding practical solutions under pressure.− Maintains focus and drive in the face of setbacks.− Takes ownership of outcomes and continuously looks for improvements
