Job Purpose
This position uses analytical skills and professional accounting knowledge to support Business Unit Leads, Department Managers, and investment project leaders in the creation of six budget events per year. The role provides leadership to financial analysts, ensures proper accounting principles are applied, and delivers strong customer service. The Supervisor partners with the group lead to advise leadership on key financial performance drivers and emerging trends. This position also supports company wide cost roll ups during budget cycles and monthly analysis and operates with significant autonomy and professional judgement.
Key Accountabilities
Month End Close Review
• Review and approve month end close activities including journal entries and plan versus actual analysis for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure financial activity is accurate and aligns with accounting principles.
Budget Review and Analysis
• Review budget versus actual comparisons for the plant in alignment with professional accounting standards.
• Advise management on future activity based on financial insights.
Budget Event Development
• Utilize advanced analytical skills and accounting expertise to collaborate with plant leadership and project leaders on the development of six budget events annually.
Team Support and Leadership
• Provide ongoing support to departmental direct reports.
• Lead and mentor budget analysts including HR responsibilities, performance reviews, and development planning.
Financial Reporting and Presentations
• Leverage financial data to develop presentations that inform leadership on budget versus actual performance.
• Provide recommendations for improvement opportunities.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Five or more years of experience preferably with Honda
• Advanced knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and cost accounting
• Strong understanding of accounting functions and terminology
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
• Proven leadership and mentorship skills
• Familiarity with Honda accounting processes and experience as a financial analyst preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Strong SAP knowledge
• Strong understanding of the business unit supported

• Direct Reports: 1 to 3
• Indirect Reports: 0
• Financial Responsibility: Creation of monthly financial reports and approval of complex journal entries; oversight of direct report activity
Working Conditions
• Office and hybrid remote environment
