Staff Technical Program Manager, AI
Hybrid/Remote: This role is categorized as Hybrid and the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical Innovation Center in Mountain View, CA three times per week, at minimum. This position can be considered Remote if the successful candidate is in the Seattle, Washington area.
The Role
We are seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead the AI Acceleration & Training Software program for our Level 3 Autonomous Driving platform. This role will serve as a strategic and executional leader, driving alignment across system architecture, full-stack development, and distributed AI training infrastructure to accelerate the delivery of next-generation autonomy software.
As a Staff TPM, you will be at the intersection of AI research, software engineering, infrastructure, and program strategy—shaping and delivering tools, middleware, and platforms that enable rapid perception, planning, and operations development at scale.
You will partner closely with engineering, AI, infrastructure, and product leaders to design and deploy solutions for distributed model training, large-scale AI experimentation, data processing efficiency, and end-to-end AI lifecycle management.
What You’ll Do

Program Leadership: Drive the end-to-end strategy, planning, and execution of the AI Acceleration & Training program, aligning system architecture with software development roadmaps.

AI Training Platform Development: Partner with AI training teams to scale distributed training platforms, enabling performance optimization, efficient data loading, experiment tracking, and metrics visualization.

Middleware & Tools Delivery: Lead the delivery of core libraries, frameworks, and infrastructure that accelerate perception, planning, and operations software development for autonomous driving.

Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with engineering, research, and product teams to define requirements, prioritize features, and deliver solutions supporting AI development velocity.

Technical Roadmapping: Translate complex technical dependencies into clear, actionable program plans with measurable outcomes across multiple teams.

Risk & Change Management: Identify technical and program risks early, lead mitigation strategies, and ensure smooth change management processes.

Scalability & Performance: Ensure systems and pipelines are designed for long-term scalability, performance, and operational excellence.

Metrics & Visibility: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for training efficiency, model quality, and delivery velocity; provide regular updates to senior leadership
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

10+ years of technical program management experience, including 5+ years working on data, AI/ML, robotics, or autonomous systems.

3+ years of direct experience in Level 4 Autonomy.

Hardware and SW backgrounds as program manager and engineering

BS or MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Proven track record of managing complex cross-functional programs involving hardware, embedded software, and data pipelines.

Strong systems thinking with ability to connect high-level architecture to on-the-ground execution details.

Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

Deep familiarity with Agile program delivery, Jira, Confluence, and technical development workflows.

Familiarity with SmartSheets, fleet ops tooling, and large-scale vehicle deployment workflows.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

The salary range for this role is $143,000 to $258,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
