On-site This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Kansas City, Kansas on a full-time basis.
The Role
As the Stamping Shift Leader, you will provide leadership for Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE) for the total press shop. You will be responsible for providing direction and assistance to your team. This position will require you to rotate between all 3 shifts on a 3-to-4-month basis.
What You'll Do

Knowledge of the total stamping production process

Communicate status to other shifts

Champion of allocated BPD activities

Discuss weekly production plan with production control

Make adjustments to the schedule as needed as a result of production problems

Allocate manpower as needed to each press line, plan release for training

Maintain shift safety by audits, observation and follow up of all incidents
-
Maintain and improve machine up time
-
Prevent recurrence of breakdown causes

Ensure TPM program is on track
-
Discuss major downtime causes with maintenance weekly and request corrective action

Sign off on standardized work charts and agree with all shifts
-
Lead shift meetings for SPQRC

Report shift status to operations manager

Coach and mentor Group leaders and improve their general performance

Ensure GM-GMS is followed

Liaise with customers for quality problems and co-ordinate countermeasures

Support area manager to resolve manpower issues in conjunction with union

Ensure cost control achieves budget needs

Must be willing to rotate shifts

Understand and comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements
Your Skills & Abilities

3 years of manufacturing experience
-
Ability to work rotating shifts (rotating between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd every 3-4 months)
