Job Description
We are looking for a Process Engineering Expert with experience in high pressure die casting to join our team at one of our Metro Detroit Locations, including Northville, Farmington Hills or Auburn Hills.
What can you look forward to as Process Engineering Expert - High Pressue Die Casting:
Managing development projects and working with multicultural teams in North America, Asia Pacific and Europe.
Position Responsibilities:
- Active participation and management of the front loading process (e.g., including simultaneous engineering), high pressure die casting and machining component design to process development including subsequent processes such as washing, leak testing, assembly, packaging, automation, Q standard and the associated Requirements according to ZF specifications.
- Carrying out technical discussions as part of new customer projects (e.g., discussions prior to award, technological support, etc.) to support award decisions.
- Carrying out development meetings, technical reviews before series production, technological support and process development up to series production of die-cast parts with a focus on machining and subsequent processes.
- Introduction of extensive tool and component concepts with affected areas and suppliers, taking into account functional, manufacturing, qualitative and economic aspects.
- Conducting negotiations with foundries, processing companies and machine and device manufacturers under best practice aspects, especially with regard to quality, supply and profitability.
- Control of professional mold management, including the complete mold management of all tools owned by ZF (e.g., tool life monitoring).
- Coordination and implementation of national and international strategic supplier development projects (preventive) and operational task force support (escalations).
- Participation in the framework of part family strategies, support in solving technology and quality problems.
- Coordination with purchasing and the decentralized factory quality departments.
- Cooperation with supplier management within the House of Competence Casting at the global locations.
Your profile as a Process Engineering Expert - High Pressure Die Casting:
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience
- 5+ years of experience preferably in the areas of management, production, technology planning, technology development, industrialization, supplier development regarding the above-mentioned focal points
- Experience in project management with the appropriate tools
- Specific knowledge in the areas of melting, foundry, mold making and the downstream processes along the value chain
- Specific knowledge in the areas of machining processing, fixture construction including tool- and production concepts, washing, leak testing, assembly, along the value chain
- Solid knowledge of the aluminum die casting process
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of methods for structured problem solving
- High resilience, commitment and willingness to travel on domestic business and abroad
- Experience with SAP and Axalant or comparable ERP and engineering change systems
- Certification as Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt or comparable improvement methodology
- Project Management Certification (PMO) is preferred
