BMW Group Financial Services Canada is offering an internship, within its Controlling team. By design, the Controlling team is structured to provide functions within Financial Services, while also ensuring alignment with other functions. The high priority projects are (1) supporting new business development (2) enhancing the retailer and customer experience by leveraging data and customer experience and (3) data optimization project which is designed to increase data awareness, improve data access and reduce barriers to entry for those without a traditional data background.

Specific Responsibilities include:
- Gathering data from source tables using self or pre-developed SQL scripts.
- Managing internal reporting databases and meeting monthly reporting deadlines.
- Development or enhancement of new reports that drive business decisions.
- Application of mathematical and analytical frameworks to help drive sound business decisions with ability to document approach and back-test results.
- Creating data visualizations in Tableau and Excel.
- Driving automation of reports and ensuring data accuracy.
- Engaging with other teams to support Internal Control System (ICS) process map updates, internal control point validation and testing.
- Supporting members of the Controlling team with ongoing tasks or ad-hoc projects, as required.
Qualifications:
- Current student or recent graduate majoring in Finance/Accounting, Business Administraton related majors preferred. Additional studies in Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics is considered an asset.
- Experience within Business Intelligence, Financial Services, Business Development or Accounting.
- Proven ability to visualize and present data within Tableau/Powerpoint.
- Strong knowledge in MS Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Visio as a plus.
- Experience in a coding language; in particular working level experience in SQL is preferred.
- Scripting or using ‘drag and drop’ databasing programs (such as SQL SSMS, MS Access, SAS, Hyperion, etc) is nice to have.
- Analytical, pragmatic and skilled in visualizing data (both structure and end product).
- Willing to learn new skills, with no hesitation to dig into fine details.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
- Open to both receiving and providing feedback.
- CPA/CFA candidates are preferred.
