Key Responsibilities Lead the development and delivery of our CAD strategy to achieve near and long-term engineering goals, working closely with the Head of Engineering Process and Reliability and the PLM team.
Own all client-side CAD activities, including configuration, customisation, implementation, and user support.
Drive process improvements across Design and CAE workflows to maximise efficiency and creative engineering time.
Act as the Subject Matter Expert on CAD tools, continuously exploring and implementing new functionalities.
Prioritise CAD development and enhancement activities in collaboration with the PLM team to deliver maximum performance impact.
Chair and lead multi-disciplinary working groups to drive improvements in design systems and methodologies.
Collaborate with the Aerodynamics Design group to maintain and update regulatory CAD assemblies.
Build strong relationships with engineers to identify bottlenecks, gather feedback, and develop effective solutions.
Coordinate user acceptance testing for CAD and digital engineering installations and upgrades.
Train new starters on CAD tools, ensuring documentation and guidelines are clear and up to date.
Benchmark, trial, and implement new tools or processes that add value to design workflows.
Regularly review and report on design capabilities, progress, risks, and opportunities to the Head of Engineering Process and Reliability. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent relevant experience in high-level motorsport design and engineering leadership.
Extensive knowledge and experience in race car design, CAD tools (especially Catia), and engineering design best practices.
Proven track record of leading CAD or design tool development programmes within Formula One or high-level motorsport environments.
Strong understanding of FIA technical regulations to ensure legality and compliance.
Innovative and open-minded approach to problem-solving, with the ability to challenge current ways of working and implement effective solutions.
Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage complex tasks and projects effectively.
Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills to engage and motivate teams.
Enthusiastic, motivated, and calm under pressure, with a flexible, results-driven mindset.
