The Formula 1 British Grand Prix is one of the biggest sporting and music events in the UK, welcoming nearly half a million people through the gates over 4 days. With the F1 taking to the track to provide high octane action and chances for the fans to get close to their heroes in pit walks and fan forums, the British Grand Prix has so much more with the off-track entertainment for all ages and 4 huge music concerts thrilling fans into the evenings.
The Zone Assistant role is crucial for the delivery of the British Grand Prix, with fan experience and safety as top priorities. We are therefore seeking passionate, dynamic and motivated individuals with experience in or, looking to gain experience in, helping to deliver large scale events.
With nine different zones each with a unique feel and entertainment offering, being a Zone Assistant is an exciting and challenging role. You will assist with the operational management of your zone, reporting to your Zone Manager and Event Control throughout the event. You will also oversee the management of the Race Maker volunteers, supporting with their briefings, welfare, shift and deployment and any other support they may need. Depending on your zone you may also be asked to support with a number of Operational plans throughout the weekend working closely with our full-time events team and your Zone Manager.

As a Zone Assistant you will be a customer service ambassador assisting our team in ensuring high levels of customer care are maintained throughout the event by proactively working in partnership with our dedicated volunteer Race Maker Team and other contractors onsite.
Training and event specific information will be provided, and applicants must be available to attend a full training day in March.
Rate: £158.76 per day

- Saturday 29th March – Training Day
- Thursday 3rd July

- Saturday 5th July
- Sunday 6th July
Event days will run on split shift so there will be a mixture of daytime and evening roles
You will need to be able to travel into the circuit each day, free parking will be provided. Camping plots can be provided upon request if you wish to stay onsite, but you must provide your own camping equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Zone Manager in completing pre, mid and post event zone inspections to ensure your allocated zone is fully functional, clean and litter free.
- Ensure that the Race Maker Team Leaders have got everything they need, and all Race Makers have signed on for their shift and have a radio.
- Support in leading the briefings that take place at the start of the Race Maker shifts.
- Proactively and efficiently manage the Silverstone brand standards in team presentation, co-ordination, monitoring and delivery of all Silverstone customer facing roles in your allocated zone, throughout the day.
- Maximise the team to deliver exceptional customer service with a focus on providing accurate race day and event information.
- Responsible for signing on Volunteer Race Makers and ensuring subsistence and welfare is provided.
- Proactively support in managing the volunteer resources to manage queues and crowd movement with the Zone Manager.
- Complete event reports on the Halo system for any issues arising during the event, liaise with contactors send to rectify any issues and actively report solutions or areas requiring further escalation
- Assist the Zone Manager to complete hourly routine checks of all customers public services, catering and grandstands to include monitoring the levels of queues, cleanliness and rubbish disposal.
- Secondary point of contact for Event Control; proactively liaise and escalate any potential public crowd or operational issues to ensure the customer experience and health and safety standards are maintained.
- Assist the Zone Manager to carry out pre and post zone review to identify and capture event successes and any operational learning’s or team development needs.
- To manage the Race Makers within the zone, allocating breaks, monitoring level of service and assisting with escalated queries.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Events Management, Travel and Tourism, Hospitality Management or other related degree or working towards Events Management degree is highly desirable
- Effective and motivational leader with the ability to cope under pressure in a busy and fast paced environment
- Excellent eye for detail with strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to be proactive and self-motivated
- Passionate about customer care and excellent customer awareness at all times
- Passionate about the events industry and/or event management
- The highest standard of personal presentation
- Previous work or study in a similar event/leisure environment is essential
- Confident individual with good inter-personal skills
- Flexible approach to the working hours
