Description
Organise and maintain site wide waste disposal management, collection, and recycling streams as we work towards our ‘Shift to Zero’ sustainability strategy objectives. This role is a critical link between a multitude of stake holders to elevate processes and systems to achieve this result.
Key Relationships
- Venue Services Team, including Deputy Venue & Circuit Manager and Venue Coordinator
- Heads of Departments such as Venue & Circuit Manager, Head of Venue Operations and ESG
- All Operational departments such as Events (Public & Corporate), Catering, Hospitality, Facilities, Escapade, and Safety
- External suppliers, contractors, and key stakeholders such as Waste management and cleaning service providers and suppliers of concessions.
- Environmental agencies and local councils
Key Responsibilities
- Implement positive changes within this environment through processes and sharing on relevant and informed information.
- Monitoring waste disposal and recycling levels both day to day and during all events.
- Plan and liaise with the waste management company to ensure the correct level of cover is provided during events.
- Management of the site wide waste streams, ensuring all locations are equipped with the correct waste receptacles and correct up to date signage is in place.
- Provide reports and insight which inform the business.
- Ensure company Health and Safety policies are up to date and adhered to
- Record waste collection data for our leaseholders/tenants for billing purposes and report any misuse of waste streams.
- Work closely with the ESG department and Venue Operatives.
- Disposal Management of all ‘types’ of waste to include clinical, confidential, wet waste and hazardous waste.
- Coordinating the maintenance and deployment of waste disposal equipment
- Creating purchase orders for the monthly and yearly waste management and any ad hoc requests that arise in accordance with financial procedures and budget tracking.
- Contribute to the compliance and implementation of ISO certification (14001)
- Awareness to updates and changes to relevant regulations and laws specific to this area.
Team Responsibilities
- Working closely with the Venue Services team and ESG department to ensure the daily and event waste streams are disposed of in the correct, most cost effective and sustainable manner.
- Ensuring the Venue service operatives are trained in the safe disposal of waste and management of the waste compound.
- Interact with third parties to improve information gathering and sharing on d details and processes.
Performance Responsibilities
Performance will be monitored against the following:

- Objectives set through the Personal Development Review (PDR) process.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 3 years’ experience of Event Waste operations (preferred)
- Environmental Legislation courses (desirable)
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Adaptable who enjoys working in fast paced customer & commercial environment.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost management
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative professional relationships & manage internal and external stakeholders.
- Familiar with ISO 14001 environment management system (desirable)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced IT user of Microsoft Office products and Smartsheet software or similar
- A flexible approach to working hours, irregular hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Full clean UK driving licence
