On the track, Formula 1 is a team sport. And the business behind is the same. We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to lead the project management and engineering of a large scale sustainable energy initiative at F1 events.
The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for the successful delivery of the Event Energy Transition project at selected F1 events. The EET project provides a low-carbon energy solution to power the F1 Paddock, F1's technical compounds and other technical and hospitality areas.
Working closely with the other Senior Project Engineer, our Temporary Power Provider and the Circuit Engineering Department, they will be responsible for the design, planning and delivery of the EET solution, and ensuring the demands of the F1 Teams and other customers are met. They will be responsible for producing energy and sustainability reporting, as well playing an instrumental role in the development and evolution of the project.
In addition, the Senior Project Engineer will support with the engineering and design of various other internal projects, and assist with some general race duties, this may include additional travel and weekend work.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Project Planning
Plan and schedule project delivery, coordinating with venues, external suppliers and F1 departments
Attend site meetings and surveys
Collate customer requirements and define scope
Work with Circuit Engineering Dept. to design overlay, cable routes, compound GAs and plan civil works
Work with our Temporary Power Provider to develop system design, incorporating BESS, solar, utility, generators, distribution, monitoring and data collection
Work with our Temporary Power Provider to define equipment and services specification and any ad-hoc requirements
Manage the procurement and delivery of fuels
Identify internal and local H&S requirements, local compliance and certification
Work with Procurement dept. to develop SoWs, SLAs for supplier contracts
Plan freight and logistics movements
Plan travel requirement
Project Delivery
Oversee the smooth delivery of the Event Energy Transition project onsite
Act as main point of contact for customers, suppliers, promoters and other stakeholders
Coordinate delivery and installation with other F1 departments and stakeholders
Ensure onsite services are available to facilitate installation
Ensure electrical and H&S compliance is adhered to and records are kept up to date
Manage any ad-hoc requirements and issues on-site
Ensure all testing, inspection and verification processes are followed
Generate and issue post-event operational and energy reports for internal departments, customers and stakeholders
Project Development
Assist with the development of the project to optimize and further reduce the carbon-impact of F1's event operations
Development of data collection and database systems
Development of design criteria, delivery and commissioning processes & SLAs
Lead on commercial processes with external suppliers, develop and review SoWs, SLAs, KPIs
Assist with budget management and forecasting
Work with suppliers to produce indicative design, host design workshops and coordinate design review process
Develop processes covering various aspects of planning, delivery, incident response, etc.
Electrical Engineering and Design
Provide engineering and design resource to the wider department for various projects
Provide support to develop indicative and detailed designs
Advise on circuit design, system protection, selectivity and equipment selection
Provide CAD support across a variety of electrical design projects
