POSITION SUMMARY:
The Class A Driver position is a full-time, year-round opportunity that is integral to the success of INDYCAR and IMS Productions. In this role, you will travel intermittently approximately 26 weeks out of the year during the INDYCAR racing season, and will remain local based out of Indianapolis, IN the remainder of the time, during the off-season. Our drivers safely and effectively move critical assets for INDYCAR and IMS Productions and when not traveling, work in the shop preparing the transporters and equipment for the next event. This position requires fluctuating weekday and weekend work based on the racing schedule. Our drivers are expected to always represent the company in a professional manner. Drivers also play a critical role by bringing general capacity to bolster the labor force during racing events.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Drive tractor-trailer to transport and deliver equipment, vehicles, merchandise, etc. to various racetracks and other destinations in support of INDYCAR events and the INDYCAR racing series.
- Maintain electronic driver log according FMCSA regulations.
- Maintain pre-trip and post-trip inspections according to DOT requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the transporter and related equipment.
- Responsible for loading the transporters, securing all equipment, and unloading.
- Regularly inspect engine, maintain fluid levels and tire pressure, and service engine when necessary.
- Assist in maintaining various other equipment necessary for our events including but not limited to golf carts, tuggers, barriers, awnings etc.
- Maintain record of expenses and submit receipts and reports electronically as necessary for reimbursement.
- Maintain mileage and fuel trip reports.
- Acts as a representative of INDYCAR and IMS Productions while traveling and presents a professional, courteous image at all times.
- Other related duties as assigned or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- High school graduate or GED.
Skills/Experience
- Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Must provide or be able to obtain a current Medical Examiners Safety Certificate.
- 3+ years of professional tractor-trailer driving preferred.
- Clean driving record and satisfactory background check.
- Must be willing and able to work in the shop when not driving.
- Willingness and ability to work with a team of technicians and officials to set up and tear down various equipment at race facilities across North America.
- Must be able to maneuver inside the tight confinements of the transporter during loading and unloading.
- Must have a professional and presentable work ethic.
- Effective communication skills.
- Innovative thinker and self-starter.
- Must be able to operate a commercial vehicle in Canada.
- Professional motorsports experience is preferred; but not required.
- Commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds and commitment to cultural competency.
- Ability to uphold and consistently demonstrate the Penske Entertainment Standards.
Travel/Work Hours/Flexibility
- This position requires fluctuating weekday and weekend work based on the event schedules; home time will vary throughout the year but will be abundant.
- During the race season, will travel extensively to and from various racetracks per INDYCAR and INDY NXT schedule.
- Normal work hours when not traveling.
- General office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
- Longer hours and weekends required for the Month of May and other major racing events

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Most be able to drive long distances, not to exceed DOT regulation.
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to operate certain equipment at the tracks and in the shop (Forklifts, JLG Lifts, Etc.)
- Must be able to assist in moving, loading, and unloading equipment from trucks and trailers.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted.

- Primary work environment other than driving, will be at various racing facilities, some of which in locations where it is especially important to stay vigilant of your surroundings.
- Many tracks are noisy due to race cars in close proximity to work areas.
- Race cars operate at high speeds and individuals must be aware of certain areas that could be a danger, they must make themselves aware of these areas and use extra caution if working in or near these aeras.
