Play a hands-on role in the design and testing of crucial car components, directly contributing to the team’s innovation and performance. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety
- Maintain “Safety First” priority on all projects
- Report and injuries or unsafe conditions to management
- Daily cleanup of own area and engineering area
- Weekly “in-depth” clean up
Job Cost System:
- Track all assigned projects and log time accurately for job cost tracking.
Purchasing System:
- Submit purchase requisitions with proper approval for all parts, supplies and equipment needs.
Reporting:
- The reporting and supervisory paths are laid out in the most current engineering department organization chart.
Development:
- Develop test methodologies for the team’s specialized rigs, including:
- Brake Rig
- Upright Dyno
- Gearbox Dyno
- Push/Pull Down Rig
- Participate in special projects as needed, ensuring that designs are accurately tracked from conception through manufacturing to ensure quality and accuracy
Job Knowledge:
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of current IndyCar rules and regulations.
- Work closely with supervisors to coordinate development and testing schedules and oversee individual project timelines and deliverables.
General Engineering Skills:
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Apply an understanding of current manufacturing techniques, material selection, and race car practices to all projects.
Engineering Operating Procedures:
- Follow all standard operating procedures set by the engineering department, reporting any problems and disputes to supervisors as needed.
- Provide regular updates on project status to supervisors.
EDUCATION & SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum of 2 years' experience
- In-depth knowledge of CAD
- Pi-Cosworth and Microsoft 365 experience is a plus
- Previous experience in motorsports is strongly preferred.
