The position:
We are looking to recruit a Garage Tyre Technician to join our Events and Race Team here at Williams. This is an exciting role, and you will be responsible for all aspects of handling tyres for one of the teams’ race cars.
As a Garage Tyre Technician, your key responsibilities will be:
The transport, build and operation of garage facilities at any events. Responsible for the presentation of the garage.
Accountability for the assigned freight and equipment as designation.
Assisting in the procurement, modification, servicing and functionality checking of all equipment required for events.
To assist in the loading/unloading of trucks and freight as required for different events and take responsibility for certain items as directed.
Carry out necessary maintenance/servicing of any equipment, both at the factory and at any events.
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation of all equipment and proactively work to maintain and improve the team presentation at events.
Operate certain equipment as required at events in support of the running of any cars.
Report any faults or issues with any equipment/components which may lead to a failure.
Direct staff as required when assisting you, such as mechanics packing freight; to include instilling good working practices with other staff.
Proactively support others to complete their tasks.
Record and work with department performance measures to identify the cause of any downtime or delays.
Assist in identifying ways to improve the department and performance.
Crack checking, cleaning, and maintenance of wheels as well as pressuring tyres and fitting tyre blankets.
Responsible for the delivery and collection of wheels from the tyre supplier for tyres to be mounted and stripped.
Working closely with the respective chassis engineer to ensure the correct tyres are available when needed.
On some occasions work longer hours at the factory, when required.
We are looking for a Garage Tyre Technician, with the following skills and experience:
Previous motorsport experience as a Tyre Technician is essential and ideally gained within an F1, WEC or GP2 environment.
Awareness of FIA rules concerning tyres usage.
An enthusiastic self-starter, with an ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Self-sufficient, able to independently take responsibility for completing tasks and objectives.
Able to work flexibly with a positive can-do attitude.
Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across teams.
Willingness to travel to events across the world.
*In compliance with national Secure Freight Consigner conditions, five years’ continuous employment, education and/or training must be evidenced and ay gaps exceeding 28 days accounted for. A criminal record check will also be carried out. This will be explained in more detail during interview.
