Your Role
Key responsibilities in your new role
We are seeking an experienced engineer to develop and implement discrete event simulations for Autonomous Factory solutions. The successful candidate will have a strong background in simulation modeling, manufacturing systems, and software development. The Engineer will be responsible for collecting requirements, designing, developing, and deploying simulation models to optimize manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Requirements Engineering: Collect and analyze requirements from stakeholders to identify simulation needs and objectives
- Simulation Modeling: Develop and maintain complex simulation models using discrete event simulation software to mimic lights-out manufacturing systems, including material flow, equipment, and personnel interactions
- Manufacturing Process Optimization: Analyze simulation results to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement in manufacturing processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes and optimize system performance. This includes applying optimization models using operations research, linear programming, and reinforcement learning
- Software Development: Develop and maintain custom software applications, scripts, and tools to support and improve simulation modeling, data analysis, and visualization
- Data Analysis and Visualization: Collect, analyze, and visualize data from simulation models, manufacturing systems, and other sources to inform decision-making and drive process improvements
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with manufacturing engineers, production, automation engineers, industrial engineers, and other stakeholders to understand manufacturing processes, identify simulation requirements, and communicate simulation results and recommendations. Provide training and support to junior simulation engineers and other team members on simulation techniques and best practices
- Methodology Development: Develop and maintain best practices, methodologies, and standards for simulation modeling, analysis, and deployment within the organization
Your Profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Automation Engineering, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in discrete event simulation, manufacturing systems, or a related field, with a focus on simulation modeling and analysis
- Software Skills: Proficiency in FlexSim or similar simulation software, as well as programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, processes, and technologies, including lights-out manufacturing and factory automation systems, e.g., material handling automation and robotics
- Experience with RTD, MCS, AMHS, dispatching, traceability, and monitoring systems
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies: Understanding of Industry 4.0 technologies, such as IoT, AI, and machine learning.
- Lean manufacturing principles: Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies, factory physics, and operating curve management
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop creative solutions
- Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across cross-functional and global teams
- Exposure to multi-site automation projects and vendor management for automation and factory system deployments is an added advantage
