We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Engineering Manager to join our team in Ottawa. As a manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the development of advanced layout design techniques and methodologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the design environment is optimized for IP design teams.
In this role, you will propose and develop advanced layout design techniques and methodologies, including specification, prototyping, and building solutions with scripting languages (Tcl/Perl/Python). You will also run verification on existing designs to assess PDK update impacts and create innovative scripts to minimize rework.
You will collaborate with multiple organizations and teams across global time zones to ensure the design environment is optimized for IP design teams. You will work within a best-in-class IC design environment, utilizing industry-leading tools and custom in-house solutions.
As a manager, you will drive the adoption of new layout methodologies by training and supporting global design teams. You will maintain and improve workflow automation, ensuring high productivity and quality in custom analog layout processes.
Key responsibilities:

Requirements:
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Expertise in custom analog layout design, especially with sub-5nm FinFet/Gate-All-Around nodes
- Proficiency in scripting languages: Tcl, Perl, and Python
- Ability to debug LVS and DRC reports effectively
- Basic understanding of circuit design and digital synthesis/place & route workflows (ICC2/FC)
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with IC design tools and custom in-house solutions
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
