ABOUT THE ROLE:
Sonoma Raceway is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Marketing & Events Intern to join our team this summer. This internship will provide a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in event marketing, promotions, digital marketing and brand activation within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The intern will work closely with the marketing team to support the planning, execution, and promotion of major race weekends and other special events at the track. This position offers an ideal opportunity for college students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in sports marketing, event management, or public relations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in executing marketing campaigns for major events
- Support grassroots marketing through promotional booths and local events
- Help develop event timelines, manage vendor coordination, and prepare on-site materials.
- Assist with setup, teardown, and operation of event booths, displays, and fan zones.
- Provide on-site support during events, serving as a point of contact for sponsors, vendors, and fans.
- Assist with event registration, ticketing, guest services, and VIP experiences.
- Create content for social media, websites, and email marketing efforts
- Conduct market research and data analysis to measure marketing effectiveness.
- Provide administrative support, including data entry, documentation management, and inventory tracking.
- Additional duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Sport Management, or a related field.
- Superior verbal/written communications skills
- Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as in team environments
- Position requires ability to work nights and weekends
- Passionate about sports, motorsports and/or event operations.
- High integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Result-oriented and creative in program development; innovative thinker and self-starter with the ability to self-manage once assigned tasks and responsibilities.
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, written, and verbal skills and able to take initiative to reach out to other staff members for information and details regarding assigned projects.
- Desire to learn new skills and be a strong member of the team.
- Must be polite, courteous, and treat all consumers respectfully regardless of the situation while treating the company assets with care at all times.
- Must be available to work event days, evenings, and weekends as needed, including key event dates.
- Must be available March 27-29, May 29-31, June 26-28, July 17-19 and July 25.
COMPENSATION: $16.90 hourly, non-exempt
This is a seasonal, as needed position.
