Work Arrangement:
Hybrid: This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary location (Milford, MI) three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role:
We are seeking an energetic candidate for the position of Electrification Verification engineer within GM’s Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls Electrification Verification group at the Milford Proving Ground (MPG). This role provides the opportunity to work cohesively with a group of engineers responsible for the integration of electrification systems, features and controls. It involves in-vehicle work for both planned and unplanned testing and collaboration with calibration, algorithm/software and controls engineers. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrification features and serial data tool expertise, vehicle and instrumentation troubleshooting skills as well as a passion for automation. A typical week consists of in-vehicle testing, results analysis, test plan development, and resource coordination.
What You’ll Do (Key Role and Responsibilities):

Execution of Learning Analysis/Development/Validation (LADV) plans for development and validation of hybrid control systems

Evaluating engineering changes and their impact on verification testing

Conducting peer reviews for test plans with consideration of hardware, software and architecture across the portfolio

Supporting development and testing of new vehicle features/functions, translating requirements into test cases
-
Writing, peer reviewing and updating GMW test procedures and related CG documents
-
Ensure GMW verification testing is delivered by Vehicle Testing Complete (VTC) milestone per program
-
Ensure test reports are delivered by Vehicle Documentation Complete (VDC) per program
-
Publishing engineering reports in Global Docs

Supporting development vehicle updates with new VeSCoM and Over the Air (OTA) software releases
-
Innovate testing processes using tools, techniques, and automation
-
Root cause analysis for issues encountered during verification testing, documentation via the Problem Resolution Tracking System (PRTS) or JIRA, and necessary data collection

Supporting unplanned testing development vehicle updates with new VeSCoM and Over the Air (OTA) software releases

Supporting development vehicle fleet with troubleshooting and data collection

Coordinating test plans and vehicle and facility usage with other stakeholders

Ensuring electrification system integration meets customer expectations

Adhering to all safety precautions and requirements, and treating safety as the top priority during all work activities
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

2+ years experience in an engineering related field

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent
-
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MPG advanced driver’s training
-
High level of analytical ability

Time management skills to meet deliverables and manage multiple projects and unplanned work

Acting with urgency

Interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with local and international team members

Experience with loading and updating vehicle software and calibrations

High voltage or electrified vehicle safety training and hands on experience

Familiarity with programming/scripting (i.e., Python, Robot/Autobot)

Interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across organizations

Technical writing ability to create written engineering evaluation reports

Two years of relevant technical experience
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications):

5+ years experience in an engineering related field

Master's Degree (ME, EE, or CS preferred)

High voltage or electrified vehicle safety training and hands on experience

Vehicle development and engineering test procedure development knowledge

Experience working with vehicles and integration issues and updating software can calibrations

Experience working with hybrid electrification system

Proficient with INCA / MDA / CANalyzer / Vehicle Spy / MATLAB

Technical writing ability to create written engineering evaluation reports

Experience with controls systems, calibration or software development

Full vehicle integration or testing experience
