What you'll do
You'll be responsible for managing all aspects of procurement related to new model launch, production parts, engineering changes and service parts. Manage costs and quotations for new business activity. Manage approved global suppliers who will support budget and technical requirements of current and future business demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all quotation activity related to prototype, new model launches, production quotes, engineering changes and service parts.
- Develop systems to ensure effective use of RFQ, Source Council, Spend Data Management and Supplier Performance Metrics related to commercial, quality and delivery targets.
- Responsible for maintaining all records pertaining to purchasing performance activities.
- Establish systems that are shared and accessible to appropriate staff and team members.
- Source, develop and maintain quality and financially approved global suppliers who will provide on time production exceeding quality, cost and technology targets.
- Effectively negotiate cost and timing with supply base in accordance with APQP timelines, action trackers and other metrics.
- Strategically develop commodity portfolios within region and globally in order to develop preferred supplier relations and partnerships as required to meet business demands.
- Provide ongoing design input for conducting manufacturing feasibility and Customer requirements.
- Provide information for input into the preliminary bill of materials (BOM).
- Define packaging specifications for individual packaging, returnable and skid deliveries.
What you need
- Must have an Engineering Degree and/or Purchasing Certification Degree.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in strategic supply chain management, purchasing/procurement preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Ability to extract, understand and analyze financial data.
- Knowledge of SAP systems is required.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, such as stamping, forging, molding, machining, electronics, etc.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with internal functional groups, suppliers and customers.
- Ability to negotiate contracts and agreements.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Suite, MRP systems) and willing to learn new tools and systems to improve performance.
