Job Title: Engineering Group - Design Release Engineering
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Design Release Engineer to join the Tire & Wheel Systems team. This role involves the successful design, development, and integration of Wheels, Wheel Trim, Tires, Chassis Tools and many supporting components - ensuring timely and accurate release into production. This position offers a career in the challenging environment of wheel development & program / release management where you will be working closely with design studio, program teams, tire and wheel suppliers, validation engineering, tire development engineering, vehicle development and vehicle integration teams to develop components for your programs.
As a Design Release Engineer, you will be responsible to develop tire / wheel content plans with the program team and studio. Develop requirements based on design best practices for sourcing parts. Develop and validate your parts to well defined requirements. You will be the project lead responsible for holding monthly Product Development Team meetings for your components, guiding the activity of suppliers, validation engineering, test engineering and specifications analysts to achieve a successful launch of a vehicle program.
Additionally, you will be responsible to:

Work with the program team to develop tire/wheel complexity targets

Develop and balance mass / cost targets with the program team

Develop statement of requirements for sourcing activity

Attend technical reviews with purchasing and suppliers to determine best supplier

Work with and guide the studio activity during the development of the wheel sketches

Ensure wheel sketches are developed over math to criteria requirements

Work with the studio and suppliers to develop working designs based on passing FEA analysis

Lead and manage execution team in the development and validation production wheels to timing metrics

Manage component level part releases for the program
Job Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or related field preferred).

Proven experience in Design/Development/Integration of automotive or complex engineered products.

Experience leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Strong analytical and group problem-solving skills.

Highly results-oriented with a strong customer-focused mindset.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Solid understanding of engineering theory and principles of design.
-
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult.
PREFERRED:
-DFSS training / certifications.
-Proficiency in Teamcenter, NX or eMERGE
-Previous Tire and Wheel experience.
-2+ years of experience with DRE role
