The Role
Chevrolet Performance Parts provides crate engines, transmissions, control kits, and other propulsion upgrades for automotive and racing enthusiasts seeking reliable, high-performance enhancements. These products are featured in the Chevrolet Performance Parts catalog and developed by GM Motorsports Propulsion and Performance Parts Engineering.
As a Design Release Engineer , you will lead the design, analysis, development, and release of IC engine systems and components in a world-class facility. This role involves managing multiple projects through all phases—planning, design, development, launch, post-production support, and warranty resolution.
We seek a highly motivated engineer passionate about performance engines, motorsports, and the aftermarket industry, with the drive to overcome challenges and deliver results.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

Lead engineering design and development for crate IC engine performance upgrades.

Guide component and assembly design to meet performance, packaging, and cost targets.

Manage project timelines, PDT meetings, and prepare technical reports/presentations.

Conduct design reviews using CAD VisMockUp and maintain BOM with cost tracking.

Coordinate prototype builds, dyno testing, and post-test reviews; support production manufacturing.

Perform design evaluations, oversee CAE analysis, and lead data-driven decision-making.

Drive supplier execution, sourcing (SOR), and quality activities including PPAP and DFMEA.

Manage engineering change processes for engines and components (eMerge/ARC systems).

Collaborate with calibration, vehicle integration, and cross-functional teams for program execution.

Address production quality, resourcing, and supply chain issues; support warranty reviews.

Represent engineering at marketing events, dealer meetings, and provide customer technical support.

Maintain Chevrolet Performance Parts catalog and propose new product ideas for growth.

Stay current on technology and competitive products while prioritizing multiple projects effectively.
Your Skills & Abilities ( Required Qualifications)

Proficient with engineering/release tools (Teamcenter, VisMockUp, eMerge)

Experience in engine performance and systems, including fuel efficiency, thermodynamics, airflow testing, valvetrain dynamics, and combustion development

Strong understanding of engine/transmission design principles

Effective communicator; able to present to leadership, peers, and customers

Master’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

7+ years engine design and release experience
