The Role
As a Senior Buyer within the Global Purchasing and Supply Chain team supporting Customer Care & Aftersales (CCA), you will play a key role in the procurement of service parts that support GM’s internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) platforms. This includes developing and executing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality service components. Your focus will include areas such as ICE propulsion components and EV battery-related technologies, supporting GM’s transition to a more electrified future.
What You will Do

Develop and execute sourcing strategies for service parts.

Identify and evaluate suppliers based on technical requirements, quality, service, technology, and cost.

Lead supplier negotiations, including pricing, terms, and contract development.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Legal, and CCA to align sourcing strategies with business needs.

Manage supplier relationships and performance to ensure compliance with GM standards.

Oversee annual contract renewals and ensure timely execution.

Utilize GM’s Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (GPSC) Sourcing Process (RFQ, quotation analysis, source selection).

Conduct benchmarking and cost analysis to support sourcing decisions.

Ensure adherence to corporate purchasing and accounting policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications

5 years of relevant post-graduate experience in Purchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain, Program/Product Management, Product Development, Cost Knowledge Management, Cost Engineering , or Value Chain Engineering

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

High-level understanding (or ability to learn) of technical components being sourced.

Strong analytical and benchmarking capabilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet research

Willingness to travel domestically as needed 5-10%

Experience with SAP or willingness to learn purchasing systems.
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Finance, related field, or equivalent work experience

Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related advanced degree a plus

Understanding of EV battery technology or remanufacturing processes.

Knowledge of propulsion components and their service lifecycle.
